National Rail Museum primarily focuses on preserving rail heritage of the country. It boasts of having rarest and unique exhibits in its premise. The Patiala State Mono Rail Tram way (PSMT) is perhaps the oldest mono rail concept started in 1907 and NRM is in proud possession of the only steam mono rail locomotive and coach in working condition. The oldest working steam locomotive “ Fairy Queen” is one of the exhibit and figures in Guinnes Book of world record. More than 100 years old and the only solid rubber tyre working vehicle “John Morris Fire Engine” is on display . Vintage exhibits such as Prince of Wales saloon, Mysore Maharaja Saloon, Fireless steam locomotive, Rail buses, Rail cars, electric locos etc. are some of the preserved exhibits. Know More

The National Rail Museum conducts special activities all the year round for visitors of all ages. These activities have been classified as Toddlers, Schools Section, Families Section, Rides, Miniature Model, Interactive exhibits. John Morris Fire Engine is continuously participating the vintage car rally.
NRM is participating in IITF (India International Trade Fair), IREE (International Railway
Equipment Exhibition) at Ambala , Haryana
NRM celebrates 1st of February to mark the opening of museum for the public on 1st Feb 1977.
Various events are organized and celebrated in NRM.
NRM continuously organizes Rail mela, Bal divas to popularize the place, Drawing and Painting
competition for children is conducted.
